Chattanooga FC is pleased to officially announce the 2012 season schedule, as well some exciting changes to the Southeast Conference of the NPSL.

Chattanooga FC is proud to be part of the National Premier Soccer League for a fourth season,” said General Manager Sean McDaniel. “Last season we added some excellent teams to our conference and it made for a thrilling finish. We expect the addition of two new teams, a new format and a conference championship match to make 2012 even more action-packed.”

Last year four teams took turns holding first place in the conference during the season, with the champions emerging only after the very last game. A division championship match should only add to that excitement.

Chattanooga FC kicks off the 2012 regular season on May 5, with a home opener against in-state rivals Knoxville Force. The teams split the two games last season as each won at home, but Knoxville was responsible for keeping Chattanooga out of postseason play when they won last game of the regular season 2-1.

Quickly following that big home opener, CFC hits the road for the next three weeks, playing away to Rocket City United, Knoxville and a newcomer, Mississippi Storm.

Chattanooga’s home games are as follows: May 5 vs Knoxville, May 26 vs Rocket City United, June 2 vs the Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves, June 9 vs Myrtle Beach FC, June 23 vs Mississippi Storm. For the full listing of games, visit our schedule section.

Changes to the NPSL Southeast

There are now 8 teams in the conference, up from 6 in 2011, with newest clubs being Myrtle Beach FC and Mississippi Storm. The Southeast will also be divided into two divisions: East and West, each made up of 4 teams. Within each division, the four teams will play each other twice, once at home and once away. They will also play each team from the other division, but only once, making 10 regular season games for each team.

At the end of regular season play, the winner of each division will meet in the Southeast Conference Championship game on July 14. The winner will go on to represent the South Region in the NPSL National Championships on July 26th in San Diego, CA.

We will do everything we can to get Chattanooga FC to win the East Division and to have a chance to be playing in the championship match on July 14,” said first season head coach Bill Elliott. “The Southeast was very competitive last year, and we expect it to be even better this season, so our work is cut out for us.”

The Southeast Conference is home to the reigning 2011 NPSL National Champions, Jacksonville United FC. The previous season, 2010, Chattanooga FC also made it to the national championship, finishing as runner up.

The Southeast is proving to be a very strong conference in the NPSL,” said board member Tim Kelly. “And in 2012 we want to continue to prove that Chattanooga FC is a very strong team within that conference.”
