Chattanooga FC finished the 2017 with 9W - 4T - 5L record, including ALL matches (friendlies, US Open Cup play, NPSL Regular Season and Playoff games). The team had a record of 7W - 4T - 2L in regular season NPSL play in the Southeast Conference, West Division, and a NPSL record of 7W - 4T - 3L including playoff matches. The four ties in a season was the most in club history, and the five losses tied the most in club history (also in 2011). The total of 18 matches in 2017 was the fourth highest in club history, behind 2014 (20 matches), 2015 and 2016 (21 matches each).

The team finished second in the West Division, failing to win the conference regular season for the first time six years. CFC had won both the regular season and conference playoffs for five straight years, from 2012-2017. CFC also failed to advance beyond the first round of playoffs for the first time in 6 years, losing to Inter Nashville 2-1 on July 11.

Chattanooga FC will not participate in the US Open Cup in 2018, as the team failed to finish among the top NPSL teams. CFC qualified to play in the USOC in 2011, and then from 2013-2017.

The team scored a total of 40 goals and allowed 13 in all matches. 18 different players scored goals for the club. The team set a record for its largest margin of victory in an official match twice this year: 7 goals (7-0 win over Georgia Revolution on July 4) and then 9 goals (9-0 win over Asheville City on July 19). The 4-0 loss to Atlanta United in Feb was the team’s second largest margin of loss in club history (losing 5-0 to the NASL Atlanta Silverbacks in 2014).

CFC played an MLS team for the first time ever, hosting Atlanta United FC in a February friendly in Finley Stadium.
