- Tate Robertson, Brett Jones find back of the net to earn 2-0 victory
- Redington earns clean sheet in first match as keeper
Chattanooga Football Club claimed victory over NPSL North Alabama SC on Saturday in a mid season exhibition in Huntsville. Midfielder Tate Robertson set the tone early, beating the North Alabama keeper just four minutes into the contest. Brett Jones added a dash of brilliance eight minutes later, and never looked back. Saturday’s match also gave new opportunities for The Academy players, with Michael Barrueta, Angel Hurtado and Ricardo Bahena all seeing time on the pitch in the victory.
“It was a good win for us” said Peter Fuller, Head Coach, Chattanooga FC. “We had worked on some different things in terms of formation and lineup during the week and got a chance to use them yesterday versus North Alabama. I thought our guys did well, and I think there are some areas that look promising with the lineup in the formation that we played, so all in all it was a great exercise for CFC.”
Coach Fuller chose a three defender set, using Kaio DaSilva, Nick Spielman, and Alec McKinley on the back line. The midfield lined up in a box formation, with a three man attack in the front. It was a different formation from what anyone has seen thus far, but one that may raise its head again soon. Next up for CFC is another mid-season exhibition against Georgia Revolution, a team that proved to be a strong rival in the NPSL. Traveling fans can get tickets at GeorgiaRevolution.com.
