Soccer is back in Chattanooga, and Mother Nature showed the Scenic City her best work on this early April Saturday. Fans who waited through a long off season were delighted to welcome the boys in blue back to Finley Stadium against USL Championship Titans Louisville City FC.

Chattanooga FC struck gold early. In the 10th minute, midfielder Sean Hoffstatter blasted a shot into the back of the net to give the home team a 1-0 lead. Behind a stout back line, Phil D’Amico made some big saves to keep the clean sheet through the first half.

The second half proved to be a much different story. Louisville City struck back twice in quick succession to take the lead. Paolo DelPiccolo scored in the 67th minute, and Jimmy McLaughlin found the net just five minutes later.

CFC’s captain Juan Hernandez evened the score line at 2-2 with a spectacular goal in the 75th minute. The game looked to end in a draw until the 83rd minute, when Cameron Lancaster put the away team in the lead for good.

“Credit to our boys for some good performances today” said Chattanooga FC Head Coach Peter Fuller. “Louisville City are a good team that tested us in many areas. I like to think we tested them too. The crowd was great and we are going to need that kind of support in the NISA Legends Cup each night. Credit to Louisville City for traveling here to play us. Today was something for us to build on.”

Chattanooga FC has 10 days to prepare for the upcoming NISA spring Legends Cup, which takes place April 13-25th at Finley Stadium. Tournament passes are on sale now at
