February 5, 2019, Chattanooga, TN - Chattanooga Football Club announced today that Gladys Pineda has been hired as the soccer club’s Director of International Community Outreach. Pineda will be responsible for helping connect the club to the growing international community in Tennessee and North Georgia.

“Gladys has been a key advocate for the international community in our region over the last decade,” said club president Sheldon Grizzle. “Those who know her have seen her passion for building relationships across diverse communities and we are honored to have her as part of our team to continue and expand that work.”

A Colombian native who came to Tennessee nearly two decades ago, Pineda has worked to make Chattanooga a more international city and aid immigrants who have come to the region in recent years. While serving as a volunteer member of the boards of numerous local civic, equity and education groups, she has also organized the Latin Festival and CultureFest – two major events that help build bridges between the Latino community and the broader community. As part of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce’s International Business Council, she hosted several cross cultural trainings developing the monthly workshops series “Global Mindset” for international businesses. Additionally she assisted other international events for local groups including the French American Chamber of Commerce, Filipino American Association of Chattanooga, Indian Association of Greater Chattanooga, and Venezuelan groups among many others.

“I am excited about this opportunity to work with Chattanooga FC,” said Pineda. “I love soccer and working with the international community, making this the perfect opportunity to utilize my background to further the goal of the club to better connect with the international community, and my personal mission to promote unity through sports, art and cultural diversity.”
