Chattanooga Football Club opens its season this Wednesday in Charlotte, North Carolina for the first round of the US Open Cup. The boys in blue will take on the Charlotte Eagles, who play in the 4th tier Premier Development League (PDL,) and posted an 11-2-1 record in 2016. With that being the case, Coach Bill Elliott expects some stiff competition in CFC’s first match of the 2017 schedule.
“There’s no doubt that the Eagles are a talented club,” said Coach Elliott. “They have a storied history with two USL-2 titles to their name. That said, we expect our guys to be extremely competitive and come home with a result.”
Three days later, CFC will open its campaign for a seventh NPSL Southeastern conference championship when the club travels down to the Crescent City to face the New Orleans Jesters.
“We’re excited to open the NPSL season in New Orleans,” said Sean McDaniel, General Manager for Chattanooga FC. “They are a strong organization with a robust fan base, and it will be a good early test for us. I think the team will be ready for the challenge.”
The ever-faithful Chattahooligans will make the journey to NC and on to NOLA for these first two games of the season and they welcome anyone willing to join them. For those of you who cannot make such a trek, stay posted for live streaming links of both games here on Chattanooga FC central.
