Alex McGrath puts CFC up 1-0 in the first minute of play
Finley Stadium has seen some big wins over the past 13 seasons, but perhaps no bigger upset than the 3-1 victory that 2,057 supporters witnessed tonight. The boys in blue advance to the 3rd round of the US Open Cup
Coach Rod Underwood fielded a largely unchanged lineup from last Sunday's postponed match against NISA newcomer Syracuse Pulse AC. The full strength squad wasted no time in flexing their muscles, as midfielder Alex McGrath blasted a far post shot past the keeper to give the boys in blue a 1-0 lead.
Just 28 minutes later, defender Travis Ward cleaned up a rebound from an Ian Cerro cross and added another goal to the tally. 2-0 CFC.
Taylor Gray adds 3rd goal and wins Man of the Match
Memphis pulled a goal back in the 39th minute thanks to defender Patrick Seagrist, bringing the match to 2-1.
As time expired in the first half, future Man of the Match Taylor Gray launched a ball in stride straight past the keeper to end the half at 3-1.
