Chattanooga Football Club has announced the signing of goalkeeper Caroline Johnson for the 2022 WPSL season.
Johnson recently finished her career Reinhardt University with plenty of accomplishments in goal. She was a 4-time First Team All Conference selection in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) and led her team to win the AAC Conference Championship and the tournament championship last year.
Playing in the NAIA, Johnson made it to the second round of the national tournament twice and picked up National Defensive Player of the Week honors. She earned AAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2021.
Having already announced two veteran players on the back line, Head Coach Randy Douglas is excited to add another veteran in goal.
“Caroline is a gifted and athletic goalkeeper," said Douglas. "She comes out well cutting down angles and is an accomplished shot-stopper. She has a ton of experience and is a great addition for CFC.”
"It's a great feeling to know that the community is so excited for the relaunch of the CFC Women's team," said Johnson. "Coach Douglas has emphasized that creating a family culture within the team is so important, and I can tell that the family is more than just the team, it's the fans too. It's always fun to play in front of a community that is so invested and supportive, and I can't wait to experience it. "
Johnson says she is looking forward to representing a new city and investing into the next generation of players.
"I'm passionate about inspiring younger kids to play soccer, and I hope to be a positive role model to future generations. This being the relaunch of the Women's team makes it even more special, and I'm ready to meet my new teammates and make this season something to remember. "
