CHATTANOOGA – Chattanooga Football Club has announced the club’s preseason plans ahead of the 2023 NISA Regular Season. Chattanooga will play at least six preseason friendlies before it kicks off the regular season in early April. Annual Passes are available now.
Head Coach Rod Underwood returns a lot of talent from the 2022 squad that finished tied for most points at the top of the regular season table. Led by NISA Golden Boot and Golden Ball winner, CFC signed Markus Naglestad for his third season. The Norwegian striker scored 20 goals and accounted for 28 total out of the team’s 56. Some dynamic new players, including 2022 NISA Golden Glove winner Jean Antoine, will also make their debut this month.
“I like where we are right now with this roster,” said Underwood. “Preseason will tell us a lot more though. We have some quality opponents on the schedule to test us. It will also be great to play in front of the home crowd a couple times early.”
Players officially reported to camp on Monday, January 16. The team will play its first of six preseason friendlies against MLS team Atlanta United on Saturday, January 28 (3:00 p.m.) at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga. The match will be open to the media and the public. Tickets to this match are included for Annual Pass holders as part of the 2023 Annual Pass. This will be the first meeting between the two and Knoxville’s first season as a professional club, after playing in USL League Two in 2022.
